Caught-In-The-Act - Cotton Hospital Restraints

 Male Bag - MB1, MB2

Now really, believe it or not, here is a bag so strong that it easily lifts and holds 300 lbs.

It has the amazing feature of four different ways to close the opening.

For outdoor adventure, the personal stage hoist and storage, or floor escape challenges by escape artists this bag can really hold its own.

Well, we feel these bags will make an excellent escape artist's un-suspended or suspended escape prop bag.

For this we call it the Male Bag. (We dared not call it the Female Bag, that really sounds obnoxious and rude. But of course, men and women are welcome to have one.)

This is no ordinary duffel bag, made of 100% imported cotton, very heavy #6 cotton duck, a 3 ply extra dense woven fabric, and non-breathable when wet.

Earlier versions were a bit small so we offer two sizes now both bigger, stronger and very versatile with 4 choices for closing the opening.

There are 8-d-rings for attachment of vertical lift lines, or closing over the opening.

3" steel ring, and closed snap hook, which are recommended for quick release lift and disengagement.

Nylon webbing reinforces the cotton bag.

Escape artists, stage designers note: we think this is an item for you to consider in your performances as either an escape prop, equipment storage/protective bag, or personal lift bag for suspension or trapeze.

Using a 3" stainless steel ring the 8 d-rings are brought together using 3-1/2" quick release snaps.

The escape artist may find great audience appeal in using this configuration for a suspension escape illusion.
When tightly cinched the neck single neck strap leaves a 4" opening only, at the top of the lift bag. This first strap is 6 " below the top of the bag.

Max Cita is usually put in a straitjacket and irons first, but he has a green bag for his escapes. This escape artist is enclosed in the bag with the upper strap done up tightly at the neck, the second strap is done up as well but not quite as tightly, this will make the escape considerably more difficult in the upright position.

tp577

 tp579

On the horizontal, the difficulty in escape is having to roll around on the floor to try and loosen the straps around the neck, all of this is purely speculative, given that first the hands and arms have to be freed from the interior restraints of a straitjacket or hand cuffs. But, if this was Dr. Mad Max, it would be Caught-In-The-Act's Psycho Straitjacket or a sleeved body bag put on first, then once in the bag it is a no-escape challenge. With the bag done-up around the neck escape is harder than if the person is fully enclosed inside the bag.

  • Best position - lie on back with feet and arms up the sides of the bag.
  • To sit cross legs - arc your body into the upright position; the head will be bent and squeezed into the folds at the opening.

tests Max Cita - no escape this time why?

1. double webbing with loose ends webbed into bag loops, 2. all 8 d-rings are closed off on a ring; 3. Weight and gravity are too great to overcome in any practical way; 4. to free an arm through the opening would require major strength but with an opening less than 4 " no arm can slip through and undo any of the fasteners.

Escape is Possible

Max Cita inside but first he is put in a custom made SJ, feet tied together with rope and wearing a latex hood with mouth and nose holes only. His first attempt took 1-1/2 hrs to escape.

The secrets of escape are available through Max Cita's training seminars.
Remember that as the cotton bag gets wet the heavyweight cotton duck fabric becomes airtight. Ensure the grommet holes are clear for good air exchange. Never be left alone in an escape such as this.

Please remember to play safe: The grommets set lower down the sides of the bag allow for reasonable air exchange. Never leave a person alone while they are in a restraint. Given that if the person is inside the bag for a long period of time, sweat will soak the bag and make it non-breathable. The holes also allow small tubing to be inserted or to steal hidden keys into the bag.

* Size Suggestions for the Male Bag: Note that flexibility is a key component of how much room is needed. For the tighter fit, or limited use of additional restraints a smaller size may be preferred. With limited flexibility of the back and legs a bigger bag may be desired giving more room to sit or lie with the back flat. Or, if it is intended to have the escape challenge with other restraints, then the ease in quickly getting the person into the bag with the added restraints, may be improved with a larger bag.

*Approx. Bag Size Made 48" high, by 23" diameter. - straps can reduce the height to 40" or two straps to a bag height of 36". Flexible slim person will find this roomy even while wearing an sj. Max Cita is 5'-9", 165 lbs, 40 chest, 34 waist, fairly flexible back and fits easily in this bag while wearing sj, transport jacket and fully restrained in irons as well.  Made 57" high, 23" in diameter, the extra length makes full enclosure much easier to enter, and less restrictive for the less flexible person. While some think the larger bag makes it much easier for escape attempts, the degree of difficulty is really a component of how much, and how tight the opening is locked or closed in.
There is no-escape from the fully suspended position when using the neck straps, and/or grommets to close the opening, only for illusions of escape.

Remember these are for suspension and as a result require extra strong reinforced material and triple stitching. This is not your average dunnage bag.
